Charlestown Pols Backing Connolly in Mayor's Race

District 1's Sal LaMattina and state Sen. Sal DiDomenico endorsing current city councilor in race to replace outgoing Boston Mayor Menino.

Two high-powered city and state elected officials who represent Charlestown are throwing their support behind endorsing John Connolly in his bid to become Boston's next mayor.

District 1 City Councilor Sal LaMattina, whose district represents Charlestown, the North End and East Boston and Everett state Sen. Sal DiDomenico whose district includes parts of Charlestown, have decided to back Connolly in his race against state Rep. Marty Walsh.

“I have seen the way he listens to parents and students, and his deep understanding of our schools,” LaMattina said during his endorsement of his fellow city councilor.

“I have no doubt that if he is elected he will transform our schools so that every child can attend a high-quality school," he said in an article reported in the Boston Globe.

The election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
