For the first time, open auditions will be held for GospelFest this year, allowing Boston residents to perform as part of the GospelFest Community Choir. Now in its 14th year, GospelFest is Boston's premier Gospel Showcase, showcasing contemporary and traditional gospel melodies. In the GospelFest Community Choir, applicants can learn the history of gospel music, as well as share the stage with acclaimed artists.The auditions will take place on the 3rd floor of City Hall, between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Monday July 14 and Thursday, July 17.Candidates should be at least 18 years old, have had prior choir experience, and be prepared to perform 30 seconds of a gospel song of their choice.GospelFest 2014 will be held Sunday, August 10, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. For more information call 617-635-3911 or visit<a href="http://www.cityofboston.gov/arts" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> the Boston arts website</a>.
