Evidence Points to Boston Marathon Bombers' Connection to Waltham Murders

Investigators are looking into the possible involvement of the accused Boston Marathon bombers in the 2011 triple homicide in Waltham.

Authorities have amassed evidence indicating that accused Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan and Dzhokar Tsarnaev possibly killed three men in a Waltham home in 2011, according to ABC News.

Investigators have "mounting evidence," including forensics, pointing toward the Tsarnaev brothers, ABC reports.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed in an April 19 shootout with police in Watertown, and Dzhorkar was later captured hiding in a boat in Watertown.

After the April 15 bombings, federal and state authorities began investigating the brothers' possible link to the murders after learning . Mess, along with his two friends, Erik Weissman and Raphael Teken, were found murdered in a Harding Avenue home in Waltham on Sept. 12, 2011.

Despite the mounting evidence, it is not yet enough to charge Dzhokar with the Waltham murders, according to the report.

Investigators also reportedly told ABC News that phone records for the brothers put them in the area at around the time of the murders.

Immediately after the murder, Middlesex County District Attorney Gerry Leone said that more than one person may have committed the killings and that the victims likely knew their attackers.

The DA's office declined to comment on the new evidence to ABC News. Dzhokar's attorney also refused comment, according to the report.

Investigators are evaluating other evidence, including a box of fireworks that was found in a donation box next to Gerry's Italian Kitchen in Watertown, according to ABC News. The box, which, was located days after the bombing and shootout, had been emptied of gunpowder.

According to ABC News, several residents recall the brothers working as pizza delivery drivers, but the restaurant denied they ever worked there. Tamerlan's death certificate says he "never worked," according to WCVB.
