Representatives from Boston Mayor Martin Walsh’s Office of Neighborhood Services will be walking the streets of the city’s neighborhoods, including Charlestown, throughout this week and next week as part of Walsh’s Neighborhood Engagement Walks (NEW) initiative.

The effort aims to conduct a “comprehensive audit of every street in every neighborhood across Boston,” and will entail the city’s Neighborhood Liaisons walking 850 miles in total to assess each neighborhood in greater detail. The results of the initiative will subsequently be shared in a “forward-facing story map,” officials said.

“The goal of this effort is to closely examine the city, allowing ONS representatives to understand every facet of their respective neighborhood while engaging with constituents on the ground and building relationships face-to-face,” the announcement reads.
