Police Search For Suspect After 15 Shots Fired Outside Chelsea Dunkin'

One of the bullets broke the glass of the Dunkin', nearly hitting a customer, police say.

CHELSEA, MA — Around 15 shots were fired in a parking lot outside a busy area in Chelsea on Tuesday, with one of the bullets entering a nearby Dunkin'. Now police are searching for a suspect in connection to the incident.

Officers responded to reports of gunshots near Washington and Sagamore Avenues around 2 p.m. near the parking lot on the Revere Beach Parkway. Once they arrived, witnesses told police a white car pulled up to a black Volkswagen in the parking lot, and the two shot at each other - firing nearly 15 shots total.

An employee told police one of the bullets broke through a window of a nearby Dunkin' and almost hit a customer, they said the customer was hit with glass but was uninjured. The men inside the Volkswagen ran off onto Cheever Street, and the white car drove off near Sagamore Ave.

Chelsea police say they now have the Volkswagen in their custody and have initiated a search warrant for all involved.

Police say they know who they are looking for, but are not releasing any names at this time; adding that they believe the two groups involved likely know each other.
