Report: Red Sox Reach Deal With David Price

The Boston Red Sox have reportedly agreed to a deal with five-time All-Star David Price. The deal marks the largest contract ever given to a starting pitcher in MLB history.

Price will be paid $217 million over the next seven seasons, the Boston Globe reports.

The 30-year-old was widely regarded as the best available free agent pitcher. He is quite familiar with the American League East, having spent time with the Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays.

In 2015, Price posted a record of 18-5, and finished with 2.45 ERA. He logged 220.1 innings.

Price’s deal surpasses fellow pitcher Clayton Kershaw, who signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers for $215 million last year.
