See a Holiday Wreath? Feel Free to Take It Down

A snowy, freezing winter has delayed the removal of wreaths around town, but volunteers will be taking them down over the next few days.

Now that the snow has mostly melted, you may have noticed the spirit of Christmas Past is still haunting the town -- in the form of dried out, weathered and slightly raggedy holiday wreaths.

Many of the wreaths that were so lovingly draped around Charlestown in December haven’t been taken down yet. It's the end of February, and decidedly time for them to be relieved of their duty -- organizers who helped bring the wreaths to the neighborhood agree.

It’s just that this winter it snowed, then it snowed so more and then it snowed again, making it a bit dangerous to remove the wreaths or, in some cases, making the wreaths kind of invisible to the casual observer.

A group of volunteers from the Charlestown Business Association (soon to be Charlestown Chamber of Commerce) will be taking wreaths down over the next couple of days. But they’re hoping that other business owners or volunteers can join the effort, to speed things up.

Bottom line: If there is a wreath in front on your business or home, feel free to remove it. You'll be doing the Business Association a great favor.
