St. Mary-St. Catherine to Hold Block Party, 'Blessing of the Animals' in Charlestown

Charlestown-area residents and pet owners will be able to ring in the month of October by having their animals blessed at Saint Mary–Saint Catherine of Siena Parish this weekend.

On Sunday, Oct. 5, the church will hold its annual Blessing of the Animals event starting at 9:30 a.m. Area residents are encouraged to bring pets, stuffed animals or pictures of pets to Thompson Square for the annual tradition.

The church will also hold a special annual block party on Sunday at 11:20 a.m.

The party, which begins after the 10:30 a.m. mass, will be held on Soley Street in front of Mary’s Peace Garden, where attendees will take part in a prayer for peace, then enjoy food, music and family-friendly activities.
