CHARLESTOWN, MA — A suspect is at large after an incident in Charlestown Tuesday afternoon in which he fled the scene and struck a guard rail after police attempted to stop him, the Boston Police Department said in a news release.

Believing the man was wanted on warrants and had a suspended driver's license, officers followed him in a marked car on Chelsea Street, but he fled in the car and struck a guard rail on Terminal Street before fleeing on foot into 200 Terminal Street, police said.

Boston Police and Massachusetts State Police deployed SWAT and police dogs to search the building for the suspect, but were not able to find him, officers said. They did, however, recover a gun from his car along with a second gun inside the building.
