Week in Review: Lab Incident, Spaulding Gifts

Life gets busy, and Patch certainly understands that. So with that in mind, here are a few stories you might have missed on Charlestown Patch this week:

1. Two Injured in Charlestown Lab Incident—Two people were transported to the hospital after a chemical incident occurred in a Massachusetts General Hospital lab in the Charlestown Navy Yard.
2. Spaulding Promises $1M in Charlestown Mitigation—Spaulding Rehabilitation Network has promised the Charlestown community more than $1 million in funding support over the next five years as a sort of thank you for allowing the new building to be constructed in the Charlestown Navy Yard.
3. —The Charlestown Navy Yard will be getting a new Hubway station and a new bus shuttle thanks to an agreement with Spaulding Rehabilitation Network.
4. —Several pieces of jewelry and a lock box were stolen from a home on Brighton Street on Thursday, Feb. 21. A safe and several pieces of jewelry were also reported stolen from a home on Bunker Hill Street on Saturday, Feb. 23.
5. Boston City Councilor Connolly Running for Mayor—Boston City Councilor John Connolly announced Tuesday that he is running for mayor. Connolly, from West Roxbury, is in his third term on the City Council and announced his mayoral candidacy during an 11 a.m. press conference held at the corner of Warren and Cambridge streets in Brighton. 
6. DND To Outline Community’s Wish List for Armory—The Boston Department of Neighborhood Development will present a draft version of their request for proposals for development of the old Charlestown Armory building at a public meeting scheduled Monday, March 4.

8. ‘Boston’s Finest’ Premieres Wednesday— TNT's new reality show, "Boston's Finest," premiered Wednesday, Feb. 27 and will air Wednesdays at 9 p.m. The unscripted show, which is executive produced by Donnie Wahlberg, follows the men and women of the Boston Police Department, promising "an up-close and very personal look at what it takes to protect and serve one of America's greatest and most distinctive cities," according to the show's website.
9. Report: Boston Real Estate Market Is Hot—The Boston real estate market is hot, hot, hot, according to the latest quarterly report from the Boston Business Journal Data Center.
10. MBTA Police: Most Thefts Involve iPhones—Staring at one’s cell phone while riding public transportation has become commonplace in today’s world, but transit police say this small, seemingly innocent practice could be contributing to electronic device thefts.
11. Feds Order Fung Wah Off the Road—One of the pioneers of fast, cheap bus service between Boston and New York City has been ordered off the roads because of structural problems with the buses.
12. Downtown Waterfront Planning Begins March 13—The Boston Redevelopment Authority has scheduled a series of public meetings and tours to kick off review of the area between Long Wharf and the Moakley Bridge.
