Everett casino developer Wynn Resorts has filed a libel lawsuit in Suffolk Superior Court, claiming unidentified Boston officials defamed the company by leaking documents.
Steve Wynn, the man behind the $1.7 billion casino planned for Everett, filed a suit against the city of Boston Monday. The suit says Wynn Resorts was defamed after an unknown official provided subpoenas to the media regarding Boston’s lawsuit against the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

Wynn’s suit alleges the documents were not disclosed to “collect information, but to spread falsehoods contained within the documents to hurt Wynn,” the Boston Herald reports.
Boston Mayor Walsh’s office denied the allegations against them when asked by the newspaper.

“No individual or company who presents themselves honestly in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, by any measure of fair play, should be subjected to the defamatory political abuse that we have experienced, and it is our intention to finally deal with it,” Wynn told The Boston Globe.
