Chelmsford High School Has a New Principal
Stephen Murray was the unanimous choice by the school and central administration.

Stephen Murray has been appointed Principal at Chelmsford High School for the 2015-2016 school year, Chelmsford school officials announced Wednesday. After two postings for the position, Murray was the unanimous choice of the school and central administration, school officials say.
A former Chelmsford Public School administrator, Murray was a finalist for the same position in 2012 and has served with distinction in his current role as Principal of Andover High School. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Frank Tiano notified him of his appointment earlier this week.
Murray has served in the field of education since 1992. He began his career as a middle school social studies teacher. His last year in the classroom was at the McCarthy Middle School in 1998 when he was named Acting Assistant Principal of that school. In 2000 he was named assistant principal of the McCarthy where he served in that capacity for five years. In 2005, Murray brought his administrative skills to the Andover Public School district. In his time there, Murray served as middle school assistant principal and principal. Currently, he is the principal of Andover High School

A 1988 CHS graduate and 2014 CHS Hall of Fame Inductee, Murray graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a major in History and earned his M.Ed. in Educational Administration from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He is currently an active member of the DESE’s Performance Assessment for Leaders Design Team as well as a design member of DESE’s NTEP (Network for Transforming Educator Preparation). Mr. Murray also holds several recreational community positions including being a member of the Interscholastic Athletic Association Board of Officials and the Chelmsford Youth Basketball League Board of Directors.
Upon learning of his appointment, Murray was quick to point out his gratitude to Andover Public Schools for the continuous opportunities to learn and grow as an administrator alongside many amazing friends and educators. He also shared his eagerness to begin working with staff and families in the Chelmsford High School community.
