Chelmsford School Committee Hires Director of Business and Finance
Michelle Cresta will begin her new position on July 1.

Michelle Cresta has been appointed Director of Business and Finance for the Chelmsford Public School District. On Tuesday night, the School Committee voted in support of Superintendent Frank Tiano’s recommendation.
Cresta has served in municipal and school finance roles and operations management for the past 20 years. Currently, she is completing her fifth year as the Director of School Finance for the Stoneham Public School System. Cresta will begin her new position in Chelmsford on July 1, 2015.
Cresta spent the early part of her career working in municipal finance holding roles such as Benefits Administrator, Head Account Clerk, Town Accountant and Finance Director/Town Accountant. As owner of her own municipal finance consulting firm she provided a variety to services to accounting, treasury, and tax collection for several towns. She also provided school business office related services to varying school districts.

Upon earning DESE licensure through the Massachusetts School Business Organization (MASBO), Cresta has held positions as a District Accountant and Director of School Finance. In addition to her DESE licensure, she is a Certified Municipal Accountant through the Massachusetts Municipal Auditors and Accountants Association and is also a Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official through the Office of the Inspector General. Ms. Cresta holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Merrimack College.
Cresta was in attendance at the School Committee meeting for the vote, after which she was congratulated by the committee. The Middleton resident shared that she is looking forward to serving the Chelmsford community in her new role.
