The Chelmsford Board of Health has closed Freeman Lake until further notice.
According to an announcement Friday afternoon, recent test results of Freeman Lake showed bacteria counts that exceeded the maximum of 235 bacterial colonies per 100 millimeter sample. The lake will remain closed for the time being.
Heart Pond, however, passed the lake testing with sample results that “were far below” the state permitted maximum.
