Police Log: Attempted Scams, Racing Sedans and More

Thursday, June 20
2:19 a.m. – After a request from the State Police at the Logan Barracks, police checked a Musterfield Road residence for a man whose Toyta Highlander was reportedly found crashed and abandoned on Boston’s Seaport Boulevard. The responding officer spoke with the man’s wife, who said her husband had the vehicle at a business dinner, and she did not know what time he was due home.
8:27 a.m. – A Hayward Mill Road resident reported a solicitor came to her home at about 8 p.m. the previous night and left without incident after her husband made a donation. The woman wanted the incident logged.

12:27 p.m. – A Lexington woman reported finding a dead beaver on the walking trail at Punkatasset Hill off Monument Street. The woman told police she believed foul play was involved in the animal’s death.
1:27 p.m. – A parking complaint came in from the manager at Papa Razzi, who reported a blue Hyundai was blocking the dumpster.

2:01 p.m. – Police responded to an attempted fraud at the Concord Mobil on Sudbury Road, where an employee reported a caller claiming to be from National Grid threatened to shut the station’s power off unless they paid cash for outstanding bills by sending themoney via Western Union.
3:20 p.m. – Multiple calls came in reporting a motor vehicle accident with airbag deployment on Commonwealth Avenue in West Concord. A tow company was dispatched to collect the vehicles and one of the drivers was cited.
6:25 p.m. – Police responded to a report of two small sedans that appeared to be racing on Strawberry Hill Road toward Acton. The responding officer checked the area, but was unable to locate the vehicles.
8:02 p.m. – A Concord man came into the station to report his vehicle was broken into while parked at Concord-Carlisle High School earlier in the day.
10:25 p.m. – A Hildreth Lane resident called to complain about a barking dog in the neighborhood, which she said was an ongoing issue.
Friday, June 21
5:56 a.m. – The Mass Bay Commuter Rail reported a train conductor spotted an unattended suitcase on the platform at the Thoreau Depot. Police eventually located an empty suitcase next to the front door of one of the businesses there.
8:43 a.m. – Police responded to a report of construction vehicles speeding on Martin Road.
10:24 a.m. – A Thoreau Street resident called to complain about a red SUV partially blocking his driveway on Thoreau Street. Police ticketed the vehicle.
10:47 a.m. – A resident reported a white van driving around and dropping items at homes. Police located the vehicle on Lexington Road; it was delivering phone books.
10:40 p.m. – An Elm Street resident reported a vehicle had been parked outside of her house for 40 minutes. The responding officer reported the vehicle had left the area.
10:45 p.m. – Police responded to a report of a large party on Elsinore Street, from which the noise was causing a disturbance. The responding officer reported there were multiple vehicles in there area, but nobody outside and no noticeable noise.
