Bomb Squad Called To Beverly Police Station For Suspicious Device

DANVERS, MA — The State Police bomb squad was called to the Beverly Police Station on Friday after a resident brought in a suspected incendiary device.

Beverly Police Chief John LeLacheur said the resident brought the device to the station at about 4:15 p.m. after finding it while conducting junk removal at his home.

"It appears the device is just a training aid, but out of an abundance of caution Beverly Police requested assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad, which is responding to safely dispose of the device," LeLacheur said in a statement. "Police urge anyone who finds a possible incendiary device to call police from their current location, and not to bring such devices to the police station."
