DANVERS, MA — Danvers outdoor water restrictions were lifted for the season as of Tuesday, despite the ongoing rainfall shortfall across the North Shore.

The town said it will revert to normal winter Level 1 conditions — with residents allowed to water lawns with sprinklers and wash cars at any time of the day or week after the annual months of restrictions because of low water flow in the stressed Ipswich River water basin.

This level normally runs from Oct. 1 through April 30.

The state remains in a rain deficit with "abnormally dry" conditions across the North Shore, "moderate drought" conditions across the Merrimack Valley and North Central Massachusetts, as well as the lower Cape, and "severe drought" conditions across the outer Cape from Chatham to Provincetown, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

Town officials said they would like to thank its residents for following these water restrictions to help conserve water.
