Danvers Marine Visits Governor's Office

Gunnery Sgt. Brian Downing was named the Marine Corps Service Member of the Year by the Military Times.

DANVERS, MA – Gunnery Sgt. and Danvers man Brian Downing visited Governor Charlie Baker, Rep. Ted Speliotis, and Sen. Joan Lovely on Wednesday after he was named the Military Times Marine Corps Service Member of the Year.

Speliotis confirmed the visit, which took place before Danvers and the Danvers Veterans Council held a recognition ceremony for Downing on Wednesday night.

According to the calendar listing for the Danvers ceremony, the Military Times award is given to a service member of the five branches of the military every year to recognize their achievements beyond the call of duty.
