Danvers Police To Host Defense Class For Women

Danvers Police will host four free R.A.D. classes in May for women ages 18 and up.

DANVERS, MA – Danvers Police are hosting four free Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) classes in May. The classes are a program of realistic, self-defense tactics specifically for women, according to a statement from police.

"The course begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, and progresses to hands-on physical defense techniques," said the statement. Certified R.A.D. instructors from Danvers Police will teach the course for women ages 18 and up. Participants are encouraged to attend all four classes.

No previous self-defense experience is required. The classes will be held on Thursdays: May 4, 11, 18, and 25, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Holten Richmond Middle School.
