Danvers Wins Award For Financial Reporting
Danvers was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

DANVERS, MA – The Town of Danvers was recently awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 9th consecutive year. The certificate recognizes the town for its governmental accounting and financial reporting.
A statement announcing the award noted that two thirds of Danvers respondents expressed high trust in their local government in a townwide survey. The statement attributes part of that trust to the town's esteemed accounting practices.
"Danvers community members see dedicated staff out in the field, mowing parks, repairing roads, and responding to emergencies, but they often don’t see the people working behind the scenes to ensure that services are delivered in an efficient and cost effective manner, consistent with best practices, and compliant with accounting standards," said Town Manager Steve Bartha in the statement. "Delivering high quality public-services starts with sound and transparent financial management."

According to the town, the certificate is judged by a panel of finance professionals, and the program has its own standards, such as a "spirit of full disclosure."
"The award is presented to Town Accountant, Corinna Grace, and Finance Director, Travis Ahern, but development of the 134-page document requires contributions from all departments and reflects a true, team effort," read the statement.
