First Responder Day Amendment Sponsored by Speliotis Accepted

The amendment would set the Sunday before Patriots' Day as First Responder Day in Massachusetts.

Danvers, MA - An amendment sponsored by State Representative Ted Speliotis would recognize the Sunday before Patriots' Day as First Responder day in Massachusetts.

On Monday, the Massachusetts House of Representatives today accepted an amendment sponsored by Speliotis (D-Danvers) to recognize the Sunday immediately preceding Patriot’s Day as First Responder Day in recognition of the courage and bravery exhibited by our police officers, firefighters and EMT’s along with private citizens who risked their lives to ensure the safety of those more seriously injured at the scene of the Boston Marathon bombing on Monday, April 15, 2013.

“I’m pleased that the full House agreed with me that the Sunday preceding Patriot’s Day is the appropriate day to recognize our first responders," said Speliotis. "This recognition will serve as another reminder of the strength and resolve the City of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts exhibited during that shocking and tragic week.”
