Foul Play Not Suspected In Danvers Drowning Death

Charles Gross, 77, of Danvers, was pronounced dead at Beverly Hospital after being pulled from a backyard swimming pool in Danvers.

DANVERS, MA — Officials released the identity of a man who died after drowning in a swimming pool on Ledgewood Drive in Danvers Tuesday. Charles Gross, 77, of Danvers, was pronounced dead at Beverly Hospital after being pulled from a backyard swimming pool in Danvers. Essex County District Attorney spokesperson Carrie Kimball said there was no evidence of foul play.

Gross did not live at the residence. The residents called 911 when they went out to the pool around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and found Gross lying at the bottom. Rescue workers performed CPR on Gross before taking him to the hospital.
