Keeping Fluffy Warm: Pets Need Safety In Dangerous Cold
How cold is too cold for your pet?

Did you know pups can get frostbite? If your animal has been out in the cold too long, or you find an animal shivering, there are a few precautions to take.
According to Dr. Mary Ellen Starble of Danvers Animal Hospital, "Frostbite is dead tissue and is a long and drawn out thing to heal. Literally get them out of the cold and wrap them in blankets."
She recommends getting dogs protective gear. "I have a little five-pound Yorkshire terrier, and I bought her a coat." Starble recommends limited exposure to cold, and no walks beyond nature's calling.

Receptionist Angela Kulakowski had additional advice, "If you find a stray dog, call the town police department non-emergency line and they will direct you to the Animal Control officer."
