Less Than 1 Year Old, Danvers Mobile App Boasts Loyal Following
Mark Mead Jones launched We Are Danvers last August, and the mobile app already has 5,000 views each month.
DANVERS, MA – Mark Mead Jones was born and raised in Danvers. He went to Danvers schools and graduated from Danvers High School, Class of '81. It makes sense that the self-taught website and mobile app developer wanted to create a free app to bring his hometown together.
"I was thinking of making something different that would connect the town," said Jones of launching We Are Danvers, a mobile app that combines town news with games, local history, and event information.
Since the app launched last August, Jones said it gets more than 5,000 monthly hits. He said people tend to find out about it through word of mouth and the We Are Danvers Facebook page and website.

The app has fun features – like a digital Scratch & Win lottery game with prizes from local businesses, raffles, and a daily quiz – in addition to Danvers news, a local police and fire department scanner, and a push notification system for major incidents around Danvers.
We Are Danvers is sponsored by local and nearby businesses, and sometimes the sponsors donate prizes for the lottery game or raffles. Jones said he gets a notes that people love the app, and find the gaming features a lot of fun.
