Letter to the Editor: Tisei Statement on Super Committee Failure
The following was submitted by congressional candidate Richard Tisei.

The failure of the “super committee” to come to an agreement on a deficit plan to control spending and stabilize our nation’s finances is yet another example of the fact that our Congress has become dysfunctional and is no longer acting in the best interests of the American people.
Last week, our national debt reached a staggering $15 trillion. Clearly, we are living on borrowed money and borrowed time. Enormous deficits and massive debt are endangering the well-being of every American and pushing our country towards fiscal and economic disaster.
Rather than address our financial problems head on, however, Congressman John Tierney has turned a blind eye towards the profound fiscal danger that confronts our nation. Unbelievably, he recently called for $450 billion in new stimulus spending while at the same time voting against a balanced budget amendment.

That isn’t the kind of leadership the people of the 6th Congressional district expect and deserve. Its actually another example of how Congressman Tierney has become part of the problem in Washington. I am running to give the people an alternative that works and becomes part of the solution.
