Selectman Revisits Discussion on Double Poles

Selectman Bill Clark grilled Verizon officials about double utility poles in Danvers.

The Board of Selectmen was discussing moving Verizon utility poles Tuesday night in preparation for a state reconstruction project. One board member used the opportunity to bring up an issue that has been bugging him, according to an article in the Salem News.

Selectman Bill Clark had asked Verizon in 2011 to start to get rid of the double poles around town, meaning that one pole was put up to replace an aging one and the old one was never torn down. Since, they have not removed any of the 100 double poles throughout town.

“There are still some double poles on High Street left over from that project,” Clark said, referring to the construction at routes 128 and 35.
