Sentencing Date Set For Philip Chism

SALEM, MA - Salem Superior Court Judge David Lowy scheduled sentencing for Philip Chism for Jan. 29, according to 7News/whdh.com.

A jury found Chism, 16, guilty of raping and murdering his high school math teacher on Dec. 16.

Colleen Ritzer, 24, of Andover, a well-liked teacher at Danvers High School was found in October 2013 in the woods near Danvers High School, raped and with her throat slashed.

Also on Tuesday, Judge Lowy ruled that family and friends of Ritzer may wear pink at his sentencing, but prosecutors and law enforcement may not.

Pink was Ritzer’s favorite color.
