The Danvers State Representative was onored for work in helping create the McKinney-Vento line item.

State Representative Ted Speliotis (D-Danvers) received the Legislator of the Year Award from the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC) at their conference in Hyannis last Friday.
MASC’s President Patrick Francomano highlighted the Representative’s work creating the McKinney-Vento line item in the state budget reimbursing cities and towns for the transportation costs of students living in hotels and motels across the state and his strong support for increased funding for local schools.
Speliotis has served Danvers for more than two decades. From 1987–1995, Speliotis was the Danvers Town Moderator. He has been the Danvers State Representative since 1997.
“I know how hard our local schools work and consistently the results show that our schools are first in the nation,” Speliotis said. “For these reasons I’m extremely proud and honored to receive this award.”
