Dedham Working to Revitalize Area Near Commuter Rail Station
As part of the 2009 Master Plan, Dedham is looking into ways to create a mixed use area near its Corporate Center commuter rail station.

As part of Dedham’s 2009 Master Plan, the town is looking into ways to create a mixed use area near its Corporate Center commuter rail station.
The particular area lacks the “neighborhood” that is felt elsewhere in town. The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) and Dedham officials have joined to study land use, zoning, and transportation connectivity around the area.
Upon completion of the study, recommendations will be discussed for how the town can create the transit-oriented community that it desires.

MAPC will look into bringing in additional housing, jobs, goods and services within walking distance of the commuter rail station. Connections between the station, surrounding neighborhoods, nearby commercial development and open spaces will also be examined.
MAPC and the Town of Dedham’s Planning Board are hosting a public meeting for this project on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Endicott Estate on 656 East Street. All residents are invited to attend the event.

Development around transit space creates “vibrant neighborhood’s, improves health and air quality, and increases access to jobs and opportunity,” according to MAPC.
