Dedham's Legacy Place Announces Summer Events, Art Installation

Dedham, MA – Legacy Place celebrates summer with a packed calendar of events and an exciting new art installation. On Tuesday, June 21, 2016, Legacy Place will kick off its annual Summer Series, which greatly enhances the property’s open-air shopping experience with over two-dozen outdoor events held between June and August. During the month of July, Legacy Place welcomes the highly exciting addition of The Heart of the City, an interactive sculpture that syncs with the rhythm of its visitor’s heartbeat, reflecting their heart vibration in brilliant displays of neon light. The Heart of the City can be found at Legacy Place between Levi’s & Urban Outfitters during the month of July. Created by internationally recognized Brazilian artist Anaisa Franco, it is robust, waterproof, and durable, weighing 400 pounds and measuring 8 feet by 6 feet by 3.4 feet. It is comprised of a three-seat chair modeled after the shape of a human heart. To sync with the installation, a visitor simply sits on the chair and places their finger in its pulse sensor; the chair will then radiate rays of neon light in sync with the unique rhythm of its guest’s heartbeat. Without a visitor, the chair will pulse with its own beams of light. Visitors are invited to take a picture of What Makes Their Heart Beat, and when uploading to social media, tag #heartbeatbos.

Beginning Tuesday, June 21st, Legacy Place’s comprehensive 2016 Summer Series will be held throughout the property with a majority of events in The Gardens, located between Shake Shack and Urban Outfitters. The series offers events ranging from sidewalk art and storybook readings for kids to kickboxing and barre class for fitness enthusiasts to live music and samples of seasonal bites for the whole family. Nearly all events are complimentary; several request a nominal donation of $1-$5.“Legacy Place is truly an electric shopping, dining and entertainment destination so it is fitting that we will be home to the vibrant, pulsating installation that is The Heart of the City.
