Injured Mourning Dove Rescued By Dedham Animal Control

The dove was taken to New England Wildlife Rehab to recover.

DEDHAM, MA — Dedham's Animal Control Officer rescued an injured dove on Monday and the department is using it as an example to residents on how to help wildlife.

A Mourning Dove chick was reported injured after it was found by a resident on Paul Street on Monday. Dedham police said that usually, when a baby bird is found on the ground, residents should just leave it as it probably fell from the nest and will be cared for by its mother.

In this case, since the baby bird was injured, it required more attention to help it survive. Dedham's Animal Control Officer took the bird to the New England Wildlife rehab to allow it time to recover.
