Letter to the Editor: Support of Cecilia Emery Butler for Library Trustee

Dear Editor,

April 13, 2013 is Town Election Day in Dedham. There are four candidates running for two open seats on the Library Board of Trustees. Cecilia Emery Butler is an EXCELLENT candidate for the position of Library Trustee.

Cecilia has a long history as an activist with the library well before this year’s campaign. Cecilia was on the 2011-2012 Selection Committee that chose the new, and very popular, Library Director. Cecilia was a member of the Citizens Library Planning Committee in 2012, which assisted the Library staff in developing its first Strategic Plan. Cecilia has attended Library Trustee meetings for the past eight years. Cecilia’s meeting attendance and interest in the library have given her the knowledge and experience necessary to make important decisions regarding the successful operation of our Dedham Public Library. Cecilia has a clear vision for our libraries’ future and the ability to understand what is needed in order to maintain and “grow” our library system. Cecilia has effectively served in important town activities, including as a Town Meeting Member, By-Law Review Member, and Dedham High School Council Co-Chair.

Cecilia wants the library to be a welcoming place for all of us. If you are a new parent who loves to read, bring your children to the Dedham library.  Cecilia's dedication to the library, and to your children, will be evident as you share the joy of reading with your children. The library is a very important part of our community.  It is not only a place to borrow books and use the computer, it is a place to learn, a place to think, and it is a refuge in today's busy world. Adults and children all benefit from a good town library and Cecilia Emery Butler is the candidate to make the library an EXCELLENT place to be. Please vote for Cecilia Emery Butler for Library Board Trustee on Saturday, April 13, 2013.
