The parking meter contractor has provided an anticipated schedule for upcoming work in the area of Dedham Square.

During installation, meters will remain in free mode on Eastern Avenue, the west side of High Street (adjacent to the Keystone lot), and on Washington Street north of High. Other meters are operating and parking is being enforced. If you are unsure whether to pay, please check the parking meter screen.

  • Week of Oct.25
    • Mount utility boxes and Wi-Fi equipment in the defined area, weather permitting.
  • Week of Nov. 1
    • Mounting meters and other devices in the defined area. Some cord drilling.
    • Test and configure meters. (Parking remains free during this phase.) 
  • Week of Nov. 8
    •  Test and configure meters. (Parking remains free during this phase.)
  • Week of Nov. 15
    • All meters operational. Enforcement at new meters will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 15, including Eastern Avenue, the west side of High Street (adjacent to the Keystone lot), and on Washington Street north of High Street.

Construction may occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The work includes temporary removal of brick pavers, masonry sawing and installation of electrical conduit, removal of old parking kiosks, installation of new utility boxes, meters, and Wi-Fi equipment. 

Meters are being installed in the same area formerly managed by the parking kiosks, excluding the new outdoor seating areas.

Along both sides of Washington Street, between High and Bryant streets, metered parking is enforced 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Parking is free before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m. and all day on Sundays.

Along High Street west of Washington Street and on Court Street, metered parking is enforced 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Parking is free before 8 a.m. and after 4 p.m. and all day on Sundays. 

Tips for using the new parking meters:

  • You do not have to pay when you park. You can pay when you leave. You will only receive a violation notice in the mail if you leave without paying.
  • First 10 minutes are free. Pay before you leave to take advantage of this 10-minute grace period.
  • Parking is limited to 2-hours during the posted times.
  • Meters accept payment by card, coins, or through the mobile app (Sentry Mobile app).
  • Parking meter automatically detects when a car is parked and when it exits a space.
