A Letter From Sherborn Selectmen Chair Paul DeRensis
DeRensis won the Sherborn Caucus nomination, on Wednesday, by 13 votes over challenger Peter Liffiton, by a total of 102-89.
Thank you for the honor of electing me the Sherborn Town Caucus Nominee for Selectman once again. Thanks to all those who came out to vote for me at Sherborn Town Caucus.
I accept your nomination with gratitude.
Going forward, I want to report that I am now elected President of the Massachusetts Selectmen's Association, where I lead all the selectmen across the state, a position which gives Sherborn a voice at the state level – something we never had before. I am now uniquely positioned to bring Sherborn's issues to the table in discussions at the state level, which will help ensure both financial savings and benefits for our community.

I am also pleased to report that since I became chairman of the Board of Selectmen last May there have been consistently unanimous votes by the Board, and although from time to time there is lively discussion, consensus is always achieved in the end. Public comment and participation are encouraged at all selectmen's meetings. And as a result, open, respectful and friendly meetings are now the rule.
One of my proudest accomplishments in the last year was the acquisition by the town of the water rights to Farm Pond and its tributaries, thereby preventing any possible exploitation by private developers in Medfield – and without having to pay the $1.2 million price tag. We paid not a dime, allowing us to preserve this unique asset for our recreation without any financial encumbrances. A win-win for all who enjoy Farm Pond.

The road to excellence has no finish line. Excellence is an ongoing goal that continues to guide me as we move forward together. Excellence in Sherborn is, after all, why we chose to live in this great town. My commitment to you is to continue on the path of excellence for all who call Sherborn home.
Again, thank you for your support at Caucus, and I ask for your vote on May 10th.
