Dover Police Introduce New Officer
The Dover Board of Selectmen approved the hiring of a new full-time police officer at their meeting Thursday night.

The Dover Board of Selectmen voted to hire a new full-time police officer at their meeting Thursday night.
Police Chief Peter McGowan anncounced that Charles Marscher, who has worked at the department part-time for nearly three years was given the full-time role.

"He’s a good kid. He’ll fit right in," said McGowan. "He’s a great fit for both the department and the town. He’s one of those guys that pitches right in and gets involved and understands all that there is to being a Dover Police officer."
Marscher will be working the overnight shift at the station from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

He attended the selectmen meeting along with his fiance Shelby Thurston and his parents Stewart Marscher and Peggy Marscher.
“I’m excited. I’ve been waiting a long time for this,” Chuck, as he likes to be called, said. “It feels great. I couldn’t be happier.”
He said that he is looking forward to working with his fellow officers on a full-time basis.
Along with working part-time in Dover, Marscher has also been working at the Wentworth Institute of Technology Police Department.
“The city is a bit of a change from Dover but I’m sure I’ll get used to it,” he said.
McGowan said he will begin working full-time in January and will attend the police academy at some point next year.
