Letter to the Editor: Dover Selectmen Carol Lisbon to Seek Reelection

The following has been submitted by Dover Board of Selectmen Chair Carol Lisbon.

To the editor:

I recently announced at a Dover Board of Selectmen meeting that I will be seeking another term as Selectmen, as my current term expires in May 2012. During my time on the Board I have had the pleasure and privilege of getting to know Dover in ways that I had not imagined when I joined the Board. It has been challenging and enlightening. I have had the honor of working with four other Selectmen as a team focused upon moving Dover forward while maintaining Dover’s special characteristics that have kept it such a desirable town in which to live.

I am particularly proud of the Board’s success in obtaining changes in Dover’s employee health insurance plan, bringing Verizon cable to Dover, planning for the maintenance and improvements to our infrastructure and public buildings, and developing a Dover website that enhances everyone’s access to Town government information and activities.

None of this could have been accomplished without the involvement of so many citizen volunteers. Working with Dover’s elected and appointed volunteers, and our talented employed staff is one of the most enjoyable aspects of serving as Selectmen.

Twelve years ago, I was appointed to the Warrant Committee. Since then I have served on many committees, including Capital Budget, Long-Range Planning, Finance Committee on Roads, Caryl Management Advisory, and Website, and as liaison to other committees, including Open Space and Recycling. I believe that this broad experience and historical perspective is of value to the Board. My interest, commitment and energy to continue in this role for another term have not waned.

As always, I welcome the thoughts and comments of Dover’s citizens. My name will be put into nomination at the Town Caucus on March 12. The Town Election is on Monday, May 21 and I hope Dover’s voters will consider electing me to another term.

Sincerely,

Carol Lisbon

Chair, Board of Selectmen
