Sherborn Hair Studio on the Cutting Edge

Tom Debin, of Sherborn, took his 20-month-old grandson Dorian Debin, to get his first haircut Tuesday, and the barber charged with such a memorable task was Tom Kierce of the newly opened Kierce and Company Hair and Barber Studio on South Main Street.

Little Dorian did his best to sit still in spite of the loud whirring of the electric clippers. Kierce even tried to get a giggle out of the baby by spraying himself in the face with water, to no avail.

But Dorian survived his first-ever haircut and he has the certificate to prove it.

That is just one of the experiences owners Tom and Lauren Kierce have had since the married couple opened their studio in November of last year.

“It started out a little slow but it’s better than we’ve expected it to be…everybody in town has been very, very supportive of new businesses, it’s really good,” Tom said.

What makes the Keirce’s studio unique is that it offers a full-service hair studio for women and an old-fashioned barbershop for men, all under the same roof.

“It’s a unique idea that nobody else has done so far. My husband and I wanted to work together. It’s a one stop shop for the whole entire family,” said Lauren.

The studio offers a range of services from shaves and cuts for men, and facials, manicures, pedicures and hair services for women. They also offer discounts for senior citizens and a heroes discount for men and women who are active military service members, police officers, firefighters and EMT’s.

Lauren had owned a hair studio in Framingham before her clientele in Sherborn convinced her to move her business into town.

“I started off in Framingham and I built up a very good following in Sherborn and my clients kept telling us for the past three years to come to Sherborn and rent out this building and we were busy raising a family and having babies. So we decided one day to just do it,” she said.

The couple said that people in town have welcomed the studio with open arms and are eager to spread the word about Sherborn’s cutting edge new spot to get a hair cut.
