Sherborn Man Killed In Ocean Cliff Fall

Authorities said John Bernadi, of Sherborn, died after falling 25 feet in Harpswell, Maine.

HARPSWELL, ME — A Sherborn man was killed after falling off an oceanside cliff in Maine Friday night. John Bernadi, 62, died after falling about 25 feet off a ledge in Harpswell. Bernadi was visiting the area with friends when he slipped and fell, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. Bernadi fell about 25 feet and struck his head on a rock before landing in the water.

Bernadi was unresponsive when his friends pulled him from the water, the office said. His friends administered CPR and were able to get him breathing again. He was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Bangor Daily News.

"The incident ... appears to be a tragic accident," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
