Selectmen Appoint New Member to Conservation Commission

Easton resident John Duggan will be the Conservation Commission's newest member.

After a brief interview this week, selectmen voted 4-0 to appoint him to the board. Selectman Todd Gornstein abstained.

Michael Sommers was the other candidate to apply for the position.

Duggan has been a resident of Easton for the past six years and has previously served on the Planning and Zoning Board before resigning for family commitments. He said he is now ready to serve the town once again.

His family uses Easton's conservation land frequently, he said.

"Preserving the outdoor spaces for my son and the other families in Easton is pretty important to me and I hope it’s something that everyone can take advantage of," he told Selectmen.

Duggan, who works in a North Attleboro law firm, said he hopes to work with both the town and developers while coming up with fair solutions to problems.

"We are a small town firm and understand the needs of the developers and needs of the community and making sure businesses can grow and towns can grow and making sure those needs are met," he said.
