White House College Scorecard Shows Stonehill is Expensive but with High Graduation Rate

The White House released a "College Scorecard" after the President's State of the Union Speech last month.

Stonehill College in Easton is expensive, but most students graduate and few default on their student loans.

Stonehill's data was released in one place last month after President Barack Obama highlighted an effort to quell the cost of college during his State of the Union Speech.

The White House's "College Scorecard" assists parents and students in finding out "where you can get the most bang for your educational buck," according to the Huffington Post.

The College Scorecard highlights five pieces of information: costs, graduation rate, loan default rate, median borrowing and the rate of graduate job placement. With the exception of graduate employment, information on all of these areas was already available through several different federal websites, but the interactive scorecard centralizes the information and allows students to search based on type of degree, region or major. The scorecard allows visitors to see how an institution compares to all other schools.

Stonehill's $30,903 per year tuition is high compared to other schools in the nation. However, 81.3 percent of undergraduate students graduate - well above the national average.
