Winter Storm: Easton Information Center

We'll keep you updated as a wintery mix hits the Shovel Town.

Friday 3 p.m.

Here is tonight's forecast from the National Weather Service:

Snow showers likely, mainly before 9pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 27. North wind 11 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

The National Weather Service says nearly two feet has fallen in the Shovel Town so far. Check out our interactive map.

From the Town of Easton:

Trash Update:  Waste Management has cancelled trash/recycling pickup today (Friday).  Pickup will take place on Saturday.

Additionally, the Ames Free Library is closed for today.

Friday 6 a.m.

Easton Public Schools and Southeastern Regional are closed today.

Friday 12 a.m.

Easton Public Schools have not announced any cancellations or delays.

Additionally, there have yet to be any power outages in the Shovel Town.

Thursday 7:20 p.m.

Currently, all of Easton still has power.

There is no word on whether or not school will be delayed or canceled tomorrow. Patch will keep you updated. Be sure to follow us on twitter and facebook.

Thursday 4:30 p.m.

It looks like we may get more snow than anticipated. Here is the nighttime forecast for Easton from the National Weather Service:

Snow showers. Low around 31. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 49 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

The changing forecasts have been a challenge for the Easton DPW, which originally anticipated mostly rain today. Click here to see how the DPW has been handling the storm.

DPW Director Dave Field has asked that residents be mindful of town plows.

Thursday 1 p.m.

Snow is beginning to accumulate here in Easton.

Luckily for Easton residents, no power outages have been reported by National Grid. We will continue to monitor.

Thursday 11:30 a.m.

Cancellations and scheduling updates are beginning to come in.

First, due to scheduling as a result of the winter storm, the OA hockey South Sectional Finals game scheduled for Sunday has been moved to Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. at the Gallo Arena in Bourne.

Also, Thursday Knitters scheduled for tonight at the Ames Free Library has been cancelled.

Thursday 11 a.m.:

A winter storm is once again approaching the Shovel Town, with the National Weather Service predicting 3-5 inches of snow and high winds for Easton. The rain and snow mix could result in power outages, the Weather Service warns.

So far, a small number of National Grid customers near Randall Street have already lost power.
