3 Hospitalized In Fiery Cape Cod Car Crash
A Wednesday crash resulted in multiple hospitalizations and Route 28 was shut down for an hour as state police investigated.
FALMOUTH, MA — Three people were hospitalized after a multi-car accident on Route 28 Wednesday when one vehicle caught fire, officials said.
Falmouth fire officials responded to an accident on Route 28 between Thomas B. Landers Road and Nathan S. Ellis Highway exits. It was later communicated that one vehicle was on fire, and arriving officials confirmed that to be true.
The scene was accessed for injuries and three individuals were quickly evaluated, officials said. At the same time, personnel began to extinguish the vehicle on fire.

All three people required care and treatment. One was transported to Falmouth Hospital, another to St. Luke's Hospital, in New Bedford, a level 2 adult trauma center, and the third person was transferred to another off-Cape Trauma Center by Boston MedFlight.
One of the occupants of the vehicle that caught fire was able to remove themselves, and the other was assisted by a bystander out of the car. Falmouth Police Department moved that occupant further away from the vehicle when they arrived.

A total of three cars were involved in the collision.
Falmouth and Massachusetts State Police were on the scene to investigate the accident. Route 28 was shut down for an hour or more while emergency crews were on scene and debris could be removed.
