Bridge traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction for 10 to 14 weeks, local police said. As for travel times? Expect delays.

Lane restrictions will be in place 24 hours a day until the project is completed, and police details will be on site when work is being performed to assist with traffic.

BOURNE, MA — The tourists and summer residents may be gone, but Cape Cod traffic won't improve nearly as much as usually does.

That's courtesy of a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project that will see maintenance work done on the Bourne Bridge. The work will limit traffic flow on the bridge, and local officials have warned residents that they should expect delays.

Beginning this week, vehicle travel over the bridge is reduced from two lanes in each direction to a single 12-foot-wide lane in each direction as roadway and bridge structural repairs are conducted, officials said.
