Bourne Bridge Work To Slow Traffic

The bridge will be open to one lane on Wednesday, but things should return to normal by Thursday's commute.

BOURNE, MA — Work on the Bourne Bridge will slow traffic today, but should be done within 24 hours.

Maintenance work, including steel repairs to two expansion joints, will be performed on the Bourne Bridge today. Work began at 8 a.m. and will end by 8:00 p.m., the Army Corps of Engineers said.

"During this time travel lanes on the Bourne Bridge will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction," officials said. "The Sagamore Bridge will remain fully open."

No wide loads will be permitted to cross the bridge while the lane restrictions are in place.
