Busy Cape Cod Summer Destination Adds Vehicle Barriers To Lively Street
Officials said the program is a proactive approach to public safety during the busy months of summer.

PROVINCETOWN, MA — One of the busiest summer destinations on Cape Cod is adding additional vehicle barriers to its lively street.
Starting last weekend, Provincetown has launched a pilot program that will place the mobile barriers on Commerical Street as part of an "ongoing commitment to public safety," officials said.
"These mobile barriers are designed for hostile vehicle mitigation to provide added protection during high-traffic pedestrian times and major events," officials said, in a statement.

Though they note that the barriers haven't been added in response to a specific threat, officials said the program is a proactive approach to public safety during the busy months of summer.
The barriers will be deployed Friday and Saturday nights throughout the summer and will also be used during the Carnival Parade and other major events and gatherings in Provincetown.
