Drunk Driver Hits State Trooper On Cape Cod: Police

Massachusetts State Police said Scott Koziol, of Rhode Island, was arrested after driving the wrong way on Route 25.

BOURNE, MA — A Rhode Island man was arrested on Cape Cod Saturday morning after police said he drove the wrong way on Route 25 then crashed into a Massachusetts State Police trooper. Scott Koziol, 53, of Rumford, Rhode Island, was charged with a host of crimes.

Police said at about 12:05 a.m., police received reports Koziol was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck erratically near the Bourne Bridge. A trooper responded to the area and attempted the pull Koziol over.

"When it appeared that the truck was stopping, (the trooper) crossed back over to the eastbound side and positioned his cruiser in front of the truck to protect oncoming traffic from a collision," police said in a statement. "The truck then rolled into the front bumper of the cruiser causing minor damage."
