Perhaps the race with the most interest on Cape Cod is for the Cape and Islands District Attorney, which will see Republican Dan Higgins face Democrat Robert Galibois.
Major players in Massachusetts politics have endorsed the candidates, including State Senators Julian Cyr and Susan Moran for Galibois, and current Cape and Islands Attorney General Michael O'Keefe for Higgins.
"The Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office should be at the front lines of epidemics of addiction and mental illness, but too often, the status quo of the current administration is leaving vulnerable Cape Codders and Islanders behind,” said Cyr (D-Truro).
"Rob Galibois has the experience and integrity to lead our District Attorney’s Office. He will prioritize reform and treatment to help vulnerable people and keep Cape Cod and the Islands safe."
And of Higgins, O'Keefe said:
"Dan has demonstrated over the years his leadership abilities in the office he now seeks to lead. I appointed Dan Chief of the five district courts in our jurisdiction in 2015. Recently I appointed him to a full time position in the Superior Court trying major felony cases.
No one in this race can match his thirteen years of experience as a prosecutor."
