Emerson String Quartet Plays Final MA Concert On Cape Cod
The Emerson String Quartet says goodbye to Massachusetts after nearly five decades of music.
WELLFLEET, MA — Cape Cod will be the final Massachusetts stop for the Emerson String Quartet after nearly five decades and thousands of concerts across the world.
The quartet is calling it quits after 47 years with a farewell tour. In Massachusetts, the last time to see the act is on Aug. 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the Wellfleet First Congregational Church, 200 Main St., in Wellfleet.
The Quartet has made more than 30 acclaimed recordings and has been honored with nine Grammys, including two for Best Classical Album, three Gramophone Awards, the Avery Fisher Prize and Musical America’s “Ensemble of the Year” award.

Their performance comes as part of the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival, which was founded by Samuel Sanders in 1979.
