Falmouth Chamber Opens 2023 Citizen Of The Year Nominations

The deadline for entries is Feb. 10, the chamber announced.

FALMOUTH, MA — The Falmouth Chamber of Commerce has opened the nomination process for the 2023 Citizen of the Year award.

This year's deadline is Feb. 10, and all nominations must have been submitted in 2023 to be considered. Nominations submitted before Jan. 1 should be resubmitted.

Nominees should live or work in Falmouth, and their civic activities should be centered there, according to the chamber's criteria. Recognition will be awarded for leadership and performance only for work that's done in addition to their paid profession, the chamber said.

In 2022, the award was given to Jay Zavala who served as president of the Barnstable County Agricultural Society, vice president of the American Parkinson Disease Association Massachusetts Chapter, chair of Continuing and Adult Education Advisory Committee of Upper Cape Regional Technical School, and vice chair of the Cape Cod Commission, according to Cape and Plymouth Business Media.
