MA HS Student Who Died In Crash ID'd, Fundraiser Ongoing

The 18-year-old died in a single-car crash after leaving the high school's prom over the weekend.

FALMOUTH, MA — Friends of Ava Lodico have taken to social media to remember their friend after her tragic death.

Lodico has been identified as the teenager who died in a crash over the weekend after leaving the Falmouth High School prom. The Boston Globe first reported her identity.

Falmouth police reported that they were called to the scene of a single-vehicle fatal accident on Acapesket Road late Saturday night. The driver was an eighteen-year-old senior at Falmouth High School.

Counseling support was offered to the community on Sunday, and additional support will be provided at school on Monday.

"It is with a heavy heart we report that the Falmouth Police Department and the Falmouth Fire and Rescue Department were called to the scene of a single vehicle fatal accident on Acapesket Road late Saturday night. The driver was an eighteen-year-old senior at Falmouth High School. Counseling support will be available today, Sunday, May 18 at the Falmouth High School Library from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. There will be additional counselors and therapists from the larger community available including Falmouth Police Department, Falmouth Human Services, and Sharing Kindness. There will also be counseling available at the school on Monday to support all students and staff as we all process this difficult event.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time."

Now, a fundraiser has been started to support Lodico's family with expenses. As of Tuesday night, the fundraiser had collected over $16,000.
